Michał Wysocki earned a degree of doctor of humanities in arts studies from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (Institute of Musicology at the Faculty of Arts Studies), where he is an assistant professor. He completed his musicological studies in 2017 at AMU (master’s thesis: Wacława z Szamotuł sztuka kontrapunktu w świetle traktatu “Praecepta musicae poëticae” Gallusa Dresslera, supervisor: prof. dr hab. Ryszard Wieczorek). He obtained his doctoral degree in 2021, defending his doctoral thesis: Modalność dzieł motetowych kompozytorów polskich XVI wieku (supervisor: prof. dr hab. Ryszard Wieczorek).

His main research interests focus on European music of the 16th century, with a particular focus on vocal polyphony and Renaissance music theory. Currently, he continues his research on tonal and modal aspects of classic vocal polyphony. Since the beginning of his musicological studies, he has been involved in music editing. He also conducts research on music sources and takes part in cataloguing music collections. In addition to music, he is interested in social and applied (clinical) psychology, and the infrastructure market.
