B.A. Studies
Art History
Studies in art history cover the time span from antiquity to modern times in Europe, the Mediterranean for ancient art, and the territory of the United Stated with regard to contemporary art. They include various objects of architecture, urban planning, sculpture, painting, graphics, handicrafts and new media, offering a variety of topics and a multiplicity of research perspectives.
Musicology
Musicological studies enable the acquisition of knowledge in the history and theory of music in the cultural context and develop the ability to analyse musical works of different periods. The graduate acquires knowledge and skills necessary to study basic issues in contemporary music criticism in a theoretical and practical context or, alternatively, knowledge of different types of musicological sources, methods of academic research, organization of libraries and music archives.
M.A. Studies
Art History
Studying art history is a great adventure. It guarantees not only an encounter with artwork and beautiful artefacts but also with art objects crucial for understanding basic civilization processes. It develops highly specialist competences in the field and provides students with general knowledge in humanities. Studying art history at Adam Mickiewicz University is a double adventure. In terms of teaching and research, our Institute is considered one of the best in the country and this part of Europe. We take pride in our excellent staff and extensive library collection. Our study program covers basic issues of art from ancient times to the present day and offers a wide range of specialist courses.
Musicology
M.A. program in musicology allows students to acquire detailed knowledge in the history and theory of music in a broad cultural context. Our graduates analyse musical works in a historical, psychological and sociological perspective applying various research methods. They should be able to work independently on musical material both in practical terms – music criticism or musicological writings as well as conducting research. The graduate should have a good command of at least one foreign language (level B2+ of CEFR), including the knowledge of musical terminology.
